Hey Neighbour,

A few weeks ago, a subscriber pointed out that I spell the word ‘neighbour’ incorrectly, that we’re neighbours not neighbors and that I probably use an American spellchecker. Both true. As a non-native English speaker, I do rely on some tools to check for errors and to correct grammar, spellings, etc., so a few ‘-ors’ might slip through every now and again, but now, I’m getting more mindful of it. It also got me wondering what other UK spellings I probably get wrong without realising it. If you do spot any, give me a shout, but make it a friendly one, spare my feelings!

• Southsea Model Village has been listed for sale!

In this week’s news:

• The Southsea Model Village, a unique Southsea landmark and local attraction for almost 70 years has been put up for sale. The current owners, a local family, has run the place for more than 10 years but have now decided to put it up for sale. They are looking for offers over £82,000. If you fancy being a part of local history, give the family a shout. More details can be read here

• Portsmouth will host a Battle of Britain Spitfire flypast as part of its Armed Forces Day celebrations at Southsea Common on Saturday, 21 June. It will be a community day of military parades, a Royal Navy Raiders parachute jump and arena displays, live music and other entertainments.

• A new music video about Portsmouth City Centre by Pompey born singer, songwriter Bradley Jago was released on June 4. The music video is the result of a community project with the City Council and Portsmouth arts company Downtown Pompey. It’s a really good listen, you can watch the video here. And maybe you even popped up in the video (give us a shout if you did!)
