It’s been just under two months of doing this, and I just want to say thank you! Thank you for all the recommendations, suggestions and lovely feedback to our newsletter releases, It’s reassuring to know you find some value in each week’s release. In today’s scoop:

• The Forge (the official home of DadzClub) is now open!

• Remembrance Service for Seafarers announced for Sunday 29th June

• Free Bus Travel today! to celebrate Clean Air Day

• Road and bus stop closures to take note of!

In this week’s news:

• To mark, celebrate, and contribute to Clean Air Day, the City Council is offering free bus travel across the city today, Thursday 19th June. The day is also meant to highlight the progress that the city has made in improving its air quality, since the start of the initiative in 2021 with 99% of vehicles in the CAZ now said to meet emissions standards.

• Seafarers and those who have lost lives at sea will be honoured in an annual remembrance service at the Portsmouth Cathedral on Sunday 29th June. The Lord Mayor of Portsmouth will host the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, and the mayors for Gosport, Havant and Fareham, as part of this remembrance service

• The Forge, a part of The Parenting Network is now open in Fratton. It’s a welcome hub for men, dads, and lads who need somewhere real. The Forge will also be the official home to DADZCLUB, for dad to dad chats, veterans and peer-led support groups. Activity dates and timetables will be released shortly, and we’ll try to get you the scoop on that too!

• The Sea Angling Classic, a catch, photograph, and release competition returns to Portsmouth between today 19th and 22nd June. It will offer the largest prize table ever seen in the UK. If you fancy watching the best of the best compete against each other, get more info here

• Temporary road/bus stop closures to take note of:

  • Emergency Temporary Stop Closure, on Route 2 Copnor Road towards Paulsgrove between 16th and 19th June

  • The annual Paulsgrove and Wymering Carnival will impact the Bus 2 and 3 going through Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove shops between 10:00am and 5:00pm on 28th June

  • White Hart Lane, Portchester will be closed between 8:00am and 4:00pm on Saturday 21st. This will impact the Bus 3 route through Portchester into Fareham
