Apologies for sending this issue slightly later than usual. The past week seems to have flown by like a blur! This time last week, I was shuttling between home and QA when I sent out last week’s newsletter, as my wife went into an unexpected early labour!

I’m happy to say that over the weekend, I became a dad! And even though this week hasn’t been any much different (still very fast and furious), everything feels a thousand and one ways brighter now with than new title next to my name. But please, Dads, send me all the tips you can manage, it’s looking like I will really, really need it!

In this week’s news:

• Portsmouth City Council introduces Pompey Link, an innovative on-demand minibus service that will connect Paulsgrove and Port Solent. It will look like a mix of a bus service and a taxi ride. This will mostly be a link between Paulsgrove, Port Solent, QA, and other bus and rail links at Cosham Interchange. It will be available Monday to Saturday, 9:00am to 7:00pm, excluding bank holidays. • Hampshire has a new Police Chief! Alexis Boon has been selected by the Police and Crime Commisioner, to become the next Chief Constable for Hamsphire & Isle of Wight. His appointment is still subject to a confirmation by the Police and Crime Panel at the end of this month but his selection has been announced

• The Southsea Food Festival will return on the 5th and 6th of July for its 17th anniversary, with more than 80 businesses taking part in this year’s festival. Chefs from popular spots like Natty’s Jerk and The Briny will be there to showcase their specialties. It will be held around Clarendon Road, Palmerston Road, Osborne Road, and Avenue De Caen in Southsea. Find out more here

• Temporary road closures to take note of:

  • Goldsmith Avenue, from 5th-11th June, from Priory Crescent to Fratton Way Roundabout

  • Hayling Avenue Bus Stop will be closed from 10th-24th June

  • Winter Road, closed starting May 21 for approximately 5 weeks
